Clare Food & Drink Fleadh On Tour!
September 29 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm€20 – €30
It’s the first year of Clare Food & Drink Fleadh, but our ambition for this festival knows no bounds – we are going on tour!
Meet at 9.30 am, No. Forty One (Abbey Street)
The Tour Bus will leave town after everyone enjoys a traditional Irish breakfast, with Meere’s Pork Products and organic eggs (included in ticket price) served at No. Forty One (Abbey Street) and accompanied by a rousing trad session (to make sure you are all awake!).
First stop is Lahinch where the group will be met by one of the country’s top foragers, Oonagh O’Dwyer. Arriving on the beach at low tide, following an overnight spring tide, the shoreline will have plenty of delectable natural food on display. This experience promises to give a fascinating insight into the edible bounty found along our shoreline.
Back on the bus and off to Lisdoonvarna to attend a ‘Masterclass’ at the Burren Smokehouse. One of the original artisan producers in Clare, Birgitta Curtin has built a worldwide reputation for salmon and other fish products sold locally and globally under the Burren Smokehouse brand. This masterclass will include sampling.
Hop on the bus once more, heading for the last stop at the picturesque Aillwee Caves Farm Shop, to learn about the distinctive Burren Gold cheese and to enjoy samples.
With everyone now expert in locally sourced food, the journey ends with a scenic drive back to Ennis.
